The real Michael Jordon

* but not really.

I really want to see this film happen. Its a story that needs to be told, and for once, America is listening.

Actor Michael B. Jordan also is in talks to star in the story of Oscar Grant, a man shot and killed by Bay Area police in 2009.

Oscar winner Octavia Spencer and Chronicle actor Michael B. Jordan are in various stages of negotiations to star in Fruitvale, a timely indie drama being produced by Forest Whitaker and his Significant Productions partner Nina Yang.
If deals go through, Jordan will play Grant, the 22-year-old man who crosses paths with friends and enemies, family and strangers on his last day. Spencer would play his tough and protective mother.Ryan Coogler is making is feature debut writing and directing the pic, which tells the story of Oscar Grant, a young black man detained on New Year’s Day 2009 by the Bay Area Rapid Transit police and shot in the back and killed. The event was captured by many cell phone cameras, with the ensuing trial and its verdict causing protests and riots. Fruitvale is the name of the station where the event took place.
The project is coming together amid the controversy surrounding the Feb. 26 death of Trayvon Martin, a black teenager who was shot and killed by a local neighborhood watch officer in Florida.
A July production start in Northern California is being eyed for Fruitvale.

Tucson’s Mexican-American Studies Ban - The Daily Show

Al Madrigal travels to Arizona, where the powerful evidence of hearsay convinced the Tucson school board to ban Mexican-American studies programs.

Watching this is scary. Literally. It is petrifying that these are the kinds of people who make decisions that lead to a tidal wave of even more conservative laws.

a bit of god/adam fanart. i’ve been sooo obsessed, i know. sorry, guys. I’ll make something proper later, promise.

Funny cuz it’s true. There are some pretty phenomenal artists on here. Sometimes I worry that my appreciation for beautiful artwork is becoming off-kilter because I see it so regularly in such a casual platform. But then I remember that I’m exposed to amazing artists every day whose work I would have never ever seen or heard of otherwise. That counts for something, right? I promise guys, one day, when I’m proper rich  (or, you know, moderately comfortable) - I’ll buy your work.

Don’t Stereotype Me——University of Mary Washington Islamic Student Association campaign against stereotyping and judging on campus. This campaign was inspired by the Trayvon Martin case. Stereotyping essentially killed Trayvon Martin so we wanted to raise awareness about the negative effects of stereotyping.

This is beautiful but it is also very sad because it illustrates that we have reach a point of hatred so high and pervasive that the oppressed are now the ones who have to reassure their oppressors of their humanity on top of carrying the burden of responsibility for the stereotypes that are thrown at them.

I don’t want to be  a downer but as long as white people have power, they would keep on stereotyping and treating like shit anyone who is not like them.
